24 Schools set for Inagural New York Next-Gen Invitational Relays in Mount Vernon, NY

Five standout schools from Jamaica, are among 24 participating schools set to compete, at the first staging of the New York Next-Gen Invitational Relays, at the Memorial Stadium, in Mount Vernon, New York on Saturday April 19, 2025.



Multiple former Penn Relays winners Vere Technical, Holmwood Technical and St Elizabeth Technical are among some of the schools who will blaze the track at the one day event as they prepare for the Penn relays in Philadelphia a few days later.


Herbert Morrison High and Bellefield High are among the other Jamaican schools down to compete and they join a stellar lineup from New York City, Lower Westchester, and the Tri-State area.


They include, Danbury High School, De Paul Catholic High School, Erasmus Hall High School and many more - The event will run from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm.

SOW BOW ON NEXT GENERATION MEET

Along with the traditional relays which will be ‘open’ to the best runners irrespective of age from each school, there will also be competition in a number of individual or ‘flat’ events, including the 100 meters dash, the sprint hurdles (110 m), 400 meters and 800 meters.


Schools will be limited to a maximum of three (3) athletes per individual event and one relay team per event.


As for the scoring system, the top three finishers in the individual events will receive the traditional gold, silver and bronze medals.


Medals will be presented only to relay winners.


The meet will also be streamed live on the MHTMedia Network.
